Recently, Cooley LLP announced a number of managing partner appointments, building the next generation of leadership in its China office. Among them, Xun Zeng and Michael Yu were appointed as the first managing partners of the Beijing office and the Hong Kong office respectively, while Yiming Liu was appointed as the new managing partner of the Shanghai office.

Xun Zeng joined Cooley 's Beijing office in 2018 as an investment fund partner, focusing on the establishment, structuring and operation of various types of investment funds, including venture capital funds, private equity funds, hybrid funds and co-investment funds. She also has extensive experience in representing institutional investors in investing in private equity funds. Xun Zeng is admitted to practice law in Hong Kong and New York.

Michael Yu joined Cooley's Hong Kong office in 2019 as a Capital Markets Partner. His areas of practice include initial public offerings and other equity capital markets transactions on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, pre-IPO investments, public takeovers and compliance matters such as listing rules/securities regulations. In the capital markets sector, Michael Yu has led the completion of a number of landmark Hong Kong stock listing projects. Michael Yu is admitted to practice law in Hong Kong and New York.

Yiming Liu joined Cooley's Shanghai office in 2021 as a capital markets partner. He is particularly adept at handling complex commercial transactions for companies and investment institutions in the life sciences and high-tech industries. With his academic background in molecular, cellular and developmental biology and healthcare services management, Yiming Liu is able to leverage his unique experience and strengths to help clients achieve results that are both practical and commercially valuable. Yiming Liu is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong.
