Winston & Strawn has re-examined their Greater China business and integrated its business by closing two Greater China offices, Beijing & Taipei, which opened in 2014 and 2009. And then, Shanghai and Hong Kong office will become their only two offices in Asia, and the core attorney teams will be transferred at the same time.
Prior to Winston & Strawn's move, there were several foreign law firms that cut or even close the Greater China offices.
In January 2015, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson closed Hong Kong and Shanghai offices.
In July 2015, Chadbourne & Parke closed the Beijing office.
In September 2016, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft decided to close the Beijing and Hong Kong offices.
